Kite Snowboarding

Home Up

On 1/20/02 we made out debut appearance on Oneida Lake in Central NY. I made a failed attempt at snowboarding with a kite. I'm hanging up snowboarding until I learn and become proficient on the slopes. Learning to snowboard with a kite is like trying to learn while being pulled by a pickup truck at about 20-30 mph, so you have an idea what it was like. Lesson Learned so I'm trying the skiboards/skiblades and regular snow ski's for now. Maybe next year I'll try the snowboard again. Below are some pics of Brian "Sliceman" Vanderslice, the resident pro in the area with over 15 years experience. The wind was 12-15mph this day and the wind was straight from the west, Slice tacked out onto the lake about a mile out which was somewhat dangerous since we haven't had that much cold weather and there weren't any ice fishermen out yet so the ice probably wasn't too safe. But when you're tooling along at about 30-40 mph you're not in one spot long enough to go through, just don't fall! So needless to say I wasn't out there!:)
